Before I begin writing about Day 33...just want to remind everyone NOT TO TRY THIS AT HOME!
I did a little experiment today. It all started out with a donut. Did you know that one donut has 240 calories, 300 mg of sodium and 19 grams of fat? I know this because I ate a donut for breakfast this morning. Rather than feeling guilty about eating the donut, I decided to get on the bike and work out until the bike read I had worked off 240 calories.
As I was eating the donut, I thought nothing of my workout, just the yummy taste of the DONUT. After I ate the donut, I got to working out. It took me 70 minutes on the bike to work off the DONUT. 70 minutes..can you believe it?
To make matters worse, I ate Cranberry/Orange Bread for an afternoon snack. That's another 210 calories my body probably didn't need. So I got on the bike and worked out for another 60 minutes.
Right now...I feel like eating some gummy worms that hubby bought for Movie Night on Saturday night, but I won't because I would have to get on the bike for another 40 minutes to work off 4 gummy worms. Yes, they would be 4 delicious gummy worms, but my legs are already sore from working out way too much today. I think I'll pass...until tomorrow ;-).
I think there's a lot of truth to portion control and empty calories, maybe I need to look into this a little further before I start my next set of 40 days.
I only have 7 more days to go, but I have a feeling that exercising is one thing I'm going to keep doing every day even after my 40 days are over. What about you?
